Christmas Cards
It is that time of year where Christmas cards are top of many people’s to-do list. It is the time to get in contact with people you may not have seen or even spoken to in a long time, yet people find that Christmas Cards are a great way to keep in touch with relatives, friends, long-distance family and maybe even old University or ex work colleagues. With the postal strikes now over, many people will be hoping their cards arrive safely and it time for the festive season.
For the last 20 years or so my parents have sent out at least 100 cards each Christmas, it is a dedication that baffles me! I usually send out a handful, to people close to me and I usually keep in touch with other friends by speaking to them regularly or texting (or Facebook). In the modern technology world there isn’t as much need for Christmas cards anymore. However the sentimental value of a card holds much weight, especially with certain generations. It is a tradition that is as much a part of Christmas as a Turkey, crackers or misteltoe. Christmas cards may be outdated but they still send out a warm message to many at this time of year.
